2004 Energy Value Housing Award Gold Winner
Medallion Homes has been recognized by the NAHB Research Center as a leader in energy-efficient home building and environmentally conscious business practices. As a 2004 Gold Winner of the Energy Value Housing Award (EVHA) in the production home/hot climate category, Medallion Homes has demonstrated a commitment to building energy-efficient homes.  The EVHA honors builders who voluntarily integrate energy efficiency into the design, construction and marketing of new homes.  It also educates the building industry and the public about successful approaches to energy-efficient construction.  According to Michael Luzier, president of the NAHB Research Center, “Companies like Medallion Homes are leading the way for home builders toward more energy-efficient construction and environmentally responsible  business practices.  Every day they prove the value of energy efficiency to home builders, homebuyers, and others in the new home construction market.”  The EVHA is managed by the NAHB Research Center, and operated in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy through its National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).  For more information on the EVHA program, please click here.

The Summit Awards are San Antonio’s way of recognizing the best in our city’s building industry.  Sponsored by the Greater San Antonio Builder’s Association, these awards recognize builders who produce top home designs, sales and construction personnel, interior design and marketing.  At the 2003 Summit Awards, Medallion Homes won 8 Summit Awards for excellence!  We proudly accepted awards for Best Product Design for our Walters and Yorktown floor plans, Best Interior Design & Merchandising for our sophisticated model home at Mesa Grande at Stone Oak, Best Television Ad and Best Black and White Ad, Best Site Signage for our trademark MH at each model home, as well as personnel achievement awards for Rookie Sales Counselor of the Year, Jeremy Shaw, and Sales Counselor of the Year, Carlos Fontanez! From our first entry in 1996 through 2003, Medallion Homes has been a winner at the Summit Awards. Other winners include Best Overall Builder in San Antonio, Best Construction Superintendent, Best Sales Staff, Best Web Site, Best Interior Design, Best Advertising, and, of course, Best Product Design.

Builder of the Year
Medallion Homes was recently named the Energy Value Housing Award "Builder of the Year 2000" by the National Association of Home Builders Research Center for its building science practices.  Building science is the way individual components of a home work together as a system.  This award is unique in the building industry because it recognizes the builder who best demonstrates a commitment to homeowners in the areas of monthly utility bill savings plus superior indoor air quality and comfort.

Energy Value Housing Award    
The Energy Value Housing Award is the nation's top honor for energy-efficient, environment-friendly home building.  The National Association of Home Builder's Research Center, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Energy and Professional Builder magazine work together to recognize a handful of builders who are leading the nation in energy-efficient, green building.  Medallion is honored to have won this award several years in a row as the "Hot Climate" specialist.  Judging criteria includes energy value (energy bills are submitted), home design, construction products and training, site planning, customer satisfaction, environmental impact, community involvement, responsible marketing, and ease of financing a home.

Best Affordable Home in the Nation
 The Best in American Living Awards are the Oscars of the nation's home-building industry.  Sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders and Professional Builder magazine, the BALAs are the nation's premier design awards. Medallion Homes has won the BALA for "Best Affordable Home in the Nation" with our Craftsman plan, a home that marries the classic California-style bungalow with ultimate livability and energy  efficiency.

Secretary's Award for Excellence
 Medallion Homes won the inaugural Best in American Living Awards Secretary's Award for bringing ground-breaking style and design to affordable price ranges.  Medallion holds dearly to the belief that inspiring architecture, energy efficiency and comfortable living should be available in all price brackets.  The Secretary's Award recognizes that Medallion delivers on these ideals.

Building Innovation for Homeownership Award
 The President of the United States commissioned a group of private business leaders and public servants to come together to define innovation in American home building and recognize those achieving it.  Medallion Homes won the Building Innovation for Homeownership Award for our breakthrough system of building energy-efficient, environmentally friendly homes with top-quality style and design.  The commission was impressed not only with Medallion's cutting-edge building techniques but also that we are able to deliver such quality at such a tremendous value to homeowners.  (Low monthly utility bills are part of the ongoing value we deliver.)

Texas Star Award
 The Texas Association of Builders sponsors the prestigious Texas Star Awards to honor the best building and design in the state.  Because Texas builders love to have local bragging rights, competition in this event is fierce!  We're proud to say that bragging rights are exclusively ours ... Each year, the San Antonio Business Journal released its list of "Fastest Growing Companies in San Antonio."  Medallion Homes has ranked #1 several years in a row. Naturalist Conservation Award
The Texas Master Naturalist Alamo Area Chapter presented Medallion Homes the Naturalist Conservation Award in recognition of Mainland Square.  This award is given to individuals and organizations that exemplify the ideals of the Texas Master Naturalist organization.  Mainland Square was one of the first neighborhoods in Texas to be certified as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat by the Texas Park's and Wildlife Department's Texas Wildscapes Program.  As we designed Mainland Square, our goal was to preserve the environmental integrity of the area.  For example, we used aerial photographs during planning to locate a natural clearing amidst the oak trees, and that is where we placed the soccer field.  Another goal was for residents to enjoy tree-lined streets rather than garage door-lined streets, and detached garages and careful site planning achieved this goal.  Mainland Square's neotraditionalist architecture and abundant green space together create a neighborhood that is truly unique to San Antonio.  In fact, Mainland Square has been lauded as one of the best-planned neighborhoods in the nation.

Housing Pioneer Award
Medallion Homes was recently given the “Housing Pioneer” award by the city of San Antonio for our in-fill development efforts. This award is special because it recognizes that Medallion is on the forefront of builders to embrace the revitalization of some of San Antonio’s older, most beautiful neighborhoods. For instance, we’ve teamed up with the San Antonio Development Agency to provide affordable housing in several “in-town” locations, and response to these homes has been overwhelming! We recognized that middle and upper income families in the market for a new home haven't had many choices in the inner city; so we’re changing that. By designing products that complement the architectural style of older neighborhoods but offer the amenities of a new home, we’re doing our part to attract residents to inner-city communities.
