A Medallion Home saves you money, is a more comfortable, healthy home, and is better for the environment!

Are all Energy Star homes created equally?
No. Medallion Homes Energy Star qualified homes give you more. We invite you to compare our homes with the competition!

Don't be confused by builders who advertise Energy Star. They may simply use Energy Star appliances or offer upgrades to achieve an Energy Star home. At Medallion Homes, Energy Star Homes are a standard feature!

Additionally, we have 100% of our homes tested and certified by a third party --not randomly sampled. Look for the Energy Star label on each of our completed homes. That is your assurance of Energy Star quality.
Effective Insulation
R-30 in the attic and R-13 in the walls helps keep our homes comfortable and quiet. Insulation is
installed without any gaps, compressions, and misalignments. This continuous boundary of insulation
between the inside and outside helps our homes maintain temperature efficiently. Without proper levels of insulation that is installed right, it’s like wearing a jacket open and loose on a cold winter day.

Advanced Windows
Heat gain and loss through windows can account for up to 50% of a home's heating and cooling needs.
These windows let light in and reduce the amount of heat gained, making your home more comfortable
and protecting interior finishes from fading. An advanced technology coating (low-e) is used to keep unwanted heat away in the summer, while keeping heat inside in the winter.

Tight Construction
Air Sealing the building envelope is one of the most critical features of an energy efficient home.
Caulking, foaming, and gasketing of holes and gaps in the home helps reduce energy loss, which
lowers utility bills for heating and cooling. Reduced air infiltration in walls and floors also helps prevent
moisture and mold problems. Hundreds of holes and hundreds of cracks in a typical home can quickly add
up to the equivalent of an open window in your house 365 days a year.

Duct Sealing & Insulation
Ducts carry air from a home's central heater or air conditioner to each part of the home, but can waste a
significant amount of energy due to improper installation and poor materials. Our ducts are sealed with
an advanced sealant that significantly reduces leakage in the duct system, improving the comfort and
air quality of our homes, while reducing utility bills. Sealing ducts allows more conditioned air to reach the home's living spaces; providing greater comfort.

High-Efficiency Cooling Equipment
Cooling systems that are highly efficient save 10-40 percent on cooling bills while improving the comfort
level in a home. We install some of the most energy efficient cooling systems (14 SEER Air Conditioner). SEER, AFUE and HSPF are industry jargon describing how efficiently the equipment operates, like miles per gallon. The higher the efficiency number, the lower your utility bills.

Energy Efficiency Inspection
Each home is individually inspected and tested for energy features by a Certified Home Energy Rater.
The efficiency of all equipment, building components, house tightness, and duct tightness are verified. Any builder can claim they have an energy efficient home – we prove it. Every home we build is inspected and tested by an independent third party- not just a sample!

Programmable Thermostat
Our buyers will enjoy the convenience of automatically adjusting cooling and heating settings to suit their
comfort while lowering their energy bills. The programmable thermostat is a great feature to point out, as
it is a very visible example of our homes’ advanced technology. Programmable Thermostats help your home match your lifestyle. Ensure comfort and convenience while you are at home and save money by reducing energy use.

Zonal Pressure Balancing
Our homes are pressure tested to make sure that the HVAC system is balanced, supplying the right
amount of air needed for comfort. Zonal Pressure Balancing keeps the comfort level the same in all the rooms,
reducing infiltration and hot or cold areas.

Spray Applied Cellulose Insulation
Our homes have cellulose insulation- great insulation value and good for the environment! Cellulose is
made from recycled material and is treated with non-toxic borate to be pest, mold and fire resistant. Cellulose Insulation is a high performance insulation that reduces sound transmission, drafts, and heat loss or gain and is treated to reduce risk of mold and pests.

Properly Sized Air Conditioners
Our homes have the air conditioner carefully selected to meet the cooling requirements of energy
efficient construction. This results in a more comfortable home that costs less to operate. Properly Sized Air Conditioners improve comfort, provide better humidity control, are quieter, have lower cooling costs, and have fewer maintenance problems.
